Seven killed in road accident

AMBALA: In a heartrending road accident, 7 people including 3 children and 3 women were killed here on GT road, on Sunday evening at around 7 pm. Three other children, who received grievous injuries in the accident, were shifted to PGI, Chandigarh, from the Civil Hospital, Ambala cantonment.

All the people were travelling in a Santro car. According to eyewitnesses, when the car driver was trying to overtake a truck near Dukheri on GT Road, the truck driver abruptly applied brakes and the car rammed into the truck from its rear side.

A 14-year-old girl, Sara, who survived the accident told that their family members were returning to their home in Delhi from Ludhiana after attending a marriage programme. Due to her critical condition, she was able to give only brief details about her family members. Only two persons, namely, Rajiv Mehta and Anju Mehta who died in the accident have been identified.

The three children, who survived in the accident include Dhruv (11), Parul (8) and Sara (14). Due to their critical condition they were shifted to PGI Chandigarh from Civil Hospital, Ambala.
