Seven booked by Khanna police

Khanna police have booked seven persons in different cases, including three for possession of narcotics.

Police arrested Manjit Singh of Rama Mandi(Samrala) under the NDPS Act after he was caught at a naka near Samrala Road with 50 gm smack. At another check-point at T-Point at Rahon, Gurcharan Singh of Khanna was held on charge of possessing 25 kg poppy husk. Baljit Singh was arrested with 65 gm opium during checking near Prem Bhandari area.

Meanwhile, four persons were booked under Sections 406, 420 and 120-B of the IPC on charge of cheating. Harbans Kaur of Majra village had complained to police on January 14, 2009 that she had given Jasvir Singh, Sarwan Singh, Jagdev Singh and Kehar Singh Rs 8.55 lakh for purchasing a plot of land but they had allegedly failed to get the plot registered in her name. The inquiry in the case was conducted by the Economic Offence wing of Khanna police.
