Shashi Kala and Kubja Devi, wives of Hriday Ram (57), the worker missing since the tunnel cave-in, today pleaded to Governor Acharya Devvrat to find the whereabouts of their husband.
The Governor visited the tunnel portal and directed the government team to speed up the search for the worker. The team is headed by Additional Chief Secretaries Tarun Shridhar and Narender Chauhan.
The Governor assured the wives of Hriday Ram that the government would search for him by taking safety precautions spelt out by technical experts guiding the search operation.
The Governor was briefed by Shridhar about the government’s seriousness about the search operation, saying the company would first strengthen the fragile and sinking strata of Tihra nullah. Shridhar said the company would strengthen the weak tunnel strata where some seismic activity was on and then move inside to strengthen the tunnel, making it safe for workers to carry out the search.
The government team met Hriday Ram’s family members and apprised them of the danger of drilling through the debris.
Shridhar said drilling to create a horizontal cavity was stopped yesterday on the advice of technical experts as it would be hazardous. Hriday Ram’s family members said they would not like any risk to the lives of workers searching for the worker missing in the tunnel for 11 days.
