The Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar), headed by hardline Sikh leader Simranjit Singh Mann, today said it would stop the entry of senior BJP leader L K Advani's Rath Yatra in Punjab.

''The SAD (Amritsar) will thwart all attempts of communal forces to distrub peace in Punjab and in this connection it would stop the entry of Advani's Rath Yatra,'' Mr Mann said after a meeting of party leaders here. He said peace had been restored in Punjab after paying a heavy price by the people of the state and no one would be allowed to spread haterd for their vested interests.

Briefing reporters about the meeting, party office secertary Harbir Singh Sandhu said the party was of the opinon that such activities of communal forces would create unrest in the state. Therefore, it was decided in the meeting to stop the Rath Yatra ''at all costs in the better interests of Punjab.'' Replying to a question about the coming assembly elections in the state, he said that their party would contest all the 117 seats on the agenda of Khalistan.
