RS 45-LAKH JEWELLERY LOOTED


Phagwara April 19:
A jewellery shop was looted at gun-point by four persons evening here near Government Senior Secondary School. Apart from decamping with three-kilogram gold ornaments and 35 kg silver, the robbers also looted Rs 30,000 cash and three mobile phones.
According to eyewitnesses, four persons came to the Manav Jewellers, which is less than 100 yards away from the City police station, at around 8 pm in a car. Carrying revolvers, they not only took away all the gold ornaments and silver lying in the shop but also asked owner Gulshan Tewari to hand over his rings.
At the time of the incident, Tewari and his aide were present. According to the prevailing market price of gold and silver, the total worth of the gold and silver taken away by the robbers was Rs 45 lakh.
