Ropar student shot dead in US - sad news

Preet Rupinder Singh Sodhi (24), a student from Ropar studying in Santiago city, California state, US, was shot dead by robbers at a store last night. He worked on weekends at the store. The parents of the student received the news about his death this evening. Preet was a student of M-Tech (Electronics).
A pall of gloom descended on his residence at Giani Zail Singh Nagar. His parents were inconsolable as neighbours and relatives poured in to offer their condolences.
His father Tajinder Singh Sodhi is a retired SDO from the PSEB and his mother Parminder Kaur is a biology lecturer of a government school at Kiratpur Sahib.
Preet completed is matriculation from Shivalik School at Nangal during his father’s posting at Ganguwal. He had topped the school in Class X. He did his plus two from Fertiliser Senior School, Nangal, and secured 20th position in the state. He got his engineering degree in electronics and communication from the Institute of Engineering and Technology, Bhaddal.
He left for US in August, 2006. His parents would wait for his phone call on the weekend. The phone did ring today, but it broke the unfortunate news. A cousin of Preet based in New York informed the family of his death.
