Post Roads in remote areas govt priority, says Kaul Singh

Sufficient funds are available for the construction of roads, said Health and Family Welfare Minister Kaul Singh Thakur, presiding over a review meeting of the PWD and IPH Department here today.
The road connectivity in tribal and inaccessible mountainous regions of the state was on priority of the government, he said.
The minister said there was no shortage of funds for roads and buildings.
After reviewing the progress of various development works, the minister directed the officials concerned to speed up pending works. He also reviewed the progress of various works undertaken in the Drang Assembly constituency. He said 12 road projects worth Rs 3.80 crore were pending in the area and 33 project reports had been prepared for the sanction of the Forest Department.
Five road projects under the Prime Minister Rural Road Scheme had been sent to the Centre for sanction, he said and directed PWD officials to complete the widening of the IIT-Kamand road on priority.
Later, the minister conducted a surprise inspection of the Zonal Hospital here. Reviewing the progress of the underconstruction mother-child care hospital, the minister said Rs 20 crore was being spent on the 100-bed hospital and the construction work was likely to be completed within a year.
A sum of Rs 45 crore had been sanctioned for a cancer hospital at Mandi. A Central team, after inspection of a site, had given its nod at Raghunath Ka Padhar near Mandi, he added.
The minister said the state government would operate the ESIC Medical College at Nerchowk and it would be connected with the Zonal Hospital which would provide better health facilities to patients.
A sum of Rs 190 crore each would be spent on three medical colleges sanctioned in the state, he said. Two cancer hospitals to be set up at Mandi and Shimla were also sanctioned by the UPA government, he added.
