We regret to inform the Bhangra world that the legendary musician and songwriter Dev Raj Jassal has passed away. Dev Raj Jassal was suffering from pancreatic cancer and unfortunately has departed as at God's will. Many artists and friends came together to support his fight against his condition earlier in the year, many of whom he had worked with on classic tracks and household anthems.
Dev Raj Jassal was lyrically responsible for some of the biggest hits to emerge on the Bhangra scene from his work with AS Kang to Balwinder Safri, many of the best lyrics were penned by this wonderful personality.
An unsung hero outside the circuit, many of the industries producers turned to him from back in the day to this very year for musical assistance. He was widely known as a master of the art of playing the Algozey, Flute, Tumbi and a wide variety of instruments. His sheer love and dedication for the music scene was evident through each song he blessed with lyrics and instrumentals. We have seen regretfully many artists and upcoming talent that have passed away in front of our very eyes. We are taught to cherish life, our friends/family and enjoy every moment of it. Just like the Late Dev Raj Jassal did...our condolences go out to the Jassal Family.
