Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today announced the construction of a road connecting Mela Jubbari (Samber) to Matrur Road, upgrade of Kiar High School to Government Senior Secondary School and inclusion of the Thoda dance in traditional rural games.
He was addressing a gathering at the Rihali fair at Samber in Shimla district.
He said the BJP sold a Rs 26-crore carton factory at Gumma at a throwaway price of Rs 1.07 crore to a Nagpur-based businessman instead of expanding it. The businessman has reassembled factory equipment at Nagpur and has been supplying cartons to the state at higher prices, he said.
“Fairs and festivals are inseparable part of the lives of the people of the state and we need to preserve our culture, customs, art and language,” he said.
The Chief Minister said it was decided to divide the work on Theog–Kotkhai-Hatkoti road in two phases— Theog to Kharapathar and from Kharapathar to Rohru and directed the authorities concerned to complete the work soon.
It was the BJP which did not co-operate with the Chinese firm involved with the project and so, it was wrong to blame the Congress for the delay, the Chief Minister said.
He said the government would provide adequate assistance in renovating the Kalahar temple.
Irrigation and Public Health Minister Vidya Stokes said the lift irrigation supply scheme, Kiar Khud, would be extended to Nichla Virgarh, Nichla Kalahar, Namana, Matli, Nichla Kiar, Lohat, and Jei villages.
She demanded the construction of a nine-km stretch connecting Jei to Raina via Dhano-Kalahar- Mata Kamaksha and the early completion of the construction of Kiar-Kasho road.
The minister also demanded development and beautification of the Kamaksha Mata Mela ground.
