JAIPUR, JULY 4:
The Rajasthan Government has decided to rope in private firms for sanitation work in major cities of the State. The monthly charges of sanitation will be included in electricity bills.

Private companies will do complete sanitation work initially in Jaipur and Jodhpur. Six others cities will also be covered soon.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the State Cabinet here on Wednesday.

In Jaipur, a private company will do complete sanitation in 25 wards.

It includes door-to-door waste collection, cleaning of roads and drains and waste management. “The company will do partial sanitation (door-to-door waste collection and disposal) work in 21 other wards. The remaining work in those wards will be done by the Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC),” the Urban Development Minister, Mr Shanti Dhariwal, told reporters.

Another company will do partial sanitation (door-to-door waste collection and disposal) in wards of Jodhpur and other sanitation-related works will be carried out by the Municipal Corporation, he said.

He also said the Government was planning to implement door-to-door waste collection and disposal plan for all district headquarters within one year.
