Rains affect punjab paddy harvesting

Moderate to rather heavy rains lashed most parts of Punjab affecting harvesting of paddy in the state.
With widespread rains drenching many areas, harvesting will be delayed by three to four days. The showers also affected paddy stored at various open grain markets. While Amritsar received 21.7 mm of rainfall, Ludhiana received 15.1 mm, the Met office said here.
Among other places, Nangal Dam recorded 6.2 mm of rainfall, bringing maximum temperature down by two to three notches in the region. The department has predicted more rains at isolated places in Punjab.
