Ludhiana November 21:

Punjab Industries Minister Manoranjan Kalia pointed out that under the new industry policy recently, medical tourism has been given the status of industry.

Under the new policy, entrepreneurs can use 25 per cent of their area for medical facilities, while the rest can be used for commercial purpose without any change of land use (CLU) charges, he said while addressing a function organised by Indian Medical association here.

Mr Kalia said that certainly as medical treatment was very costly in foreign countries and with better medical facilities and infrastructure here, there was bright scope for medical tourism. He pointed out that foreigners, particularly NRIs have started coming to Punjab for medical treament.
