Jalandhar December 6:

Punjab CPM will hold a massive 'Peoples' Rally' on December 8 at Desh Bhagat Hall Complex here against the ever increasing prices, unemployment, rampant corruption and two new "repressive laws" enacted by Punjab Government recently.

Mangat Ram Pasla, state secretary, said in the era of liberalisation, globalisation and privatisation, the profits of indigenous and foreign monopolists has multiplied as also the miseries of common people with the manifold increase in price rise, unemployment and corruption, a press release said.

He noted that many corruption scandals have came to light in the past one month, especially 2G spectrum scam involving Rs 1.76 lakh crore of public money. The tape involving conversation among corporate lobbyist Nira Radia, businessmen like Ratan Tata, politicians of ruling classes and bureaucrats has shaken the common people, he said.

When the common people raise their voice against the issues of price rise, unemployment and this kind of robbing of public money they are repressed. The government is enacting new laws to sharpen this repression, as the Government of Punjab has enacted two new black laws- 'Punjab special protection group Act-2010' and 'Public and private Property Damage control Act-2010'. This rally will also focus on the demands of workers, peasants, youths, students, women and employees, especially the damands of hard hitting peasants of border and Kandi areas of the State.
