PUNJAB CONGRESSMEN WELCOME GILL'S INDUCTION IN CABINET


Chandigarh April 8:
The Congress leaders from Majha have welcomed the induction of Manohar Singh Gill into the Union Ministry and thanked Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and AICC president Sonia Gandhi for giving representation to a Sikh in the Ministry.
After the Prime Minister, Manohar Singh Gill, former Chief Election Commissioner of India (CEC) is the second Sikh who was inducted in the Union Ministry. He is Rajya Sabha member from Tarn Taran.
In a joint Press statement, Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, Harpartap Singh Ajnala, MLA Sukhbinder Singh Sukhsarkaria, Jasbir Singh Dimpa, Tripat Rajinder Singh Bajwa, Sawinder Singh Kathunagal, Tarsem Singh, Harimder Singh Gill, Dharambir Agnihotri said, "We are extremely grateful to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi for giving representation to a border area MP in the Union Ministry."
Terming the Gill as great administrator, they said that by using his personal experience, which he gained as a bureaucrat, he will put best efforts to tap the potential in the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs. The leaders expressed the hope that Gill's image would also help the Congress candidate in the coming Lok Sabha election.
The leaders also applauded the AICC General Secretary Rahul Gandhi for refusing to accept the Cabinet berth. "After the great scarifies of Sonia Gandhi, who left the post of Prime Minister for Manmohan Singh, now the Rahul Gandhi has set another example about the scarifies the Gandhi family had made for nation and party."
