PUNJAB BANS PARTIES IN GOVT EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS

Chandigarh February 27:

Holding a wedding function, parties or even religious ceremonies on the premises of Government educational institutions in Punjab will soon be history with the State Government announcing a ban on such activities.
State Education and Languages Minister Upinderjit Kaur said that buildings and playgrounds of educational institutions were only meant for teaching and other educational purposes, including functions of national and State importance.

The Punjab Government has directed all field education officers and local bodies in towns and villages not to allow misuse of the premises of Government educational institutions for events other than that of academic purposes.

The move by the Government follows media reports in which ruling Akali Dal leaders and workers were shown holding marriages and other social functions on school premises. In certain cases, even liquor was being served inside these premises in violation of all laws.
