Chandigarh November 4:

The Punjab Cabinet called upon the Union Government to take immediate and effective steps to ensure that there is no further delay in the dispensation of justice to bereaved families in the November 1984 anti-Sikh riots.

A resolution to this effect was moved by the Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal in the Cabinet meeting chaired by Parkash Singh Badal at the Chief Minister’s residence.

The Cabinet expressed grave concern and disappointment that even 26 years after the heinous crime against humanity, mass killers, their instigators and accomplices continue to roam free and even enjoy pride of place in the corridors of power.

The Cabinet also expressed solidarity with the members of the bereaved families. The resolution prayed for peace to the departed souls and justice for their families who have been facing distress for over two-and-a-half decades.
