Kolkata: Another cartoon of Mamata Banerjee is set to stir the already beleaguered people of West Bengal. On Saturday, an associate professor of Midnapore Medical College filed a complaint against two people accusing them of circulating a cartoon that denigrates the West Bengal Chief Minister.

According to police sources, Dr Bikram Saha, Associate Professor of Medicine in the college, has filed a complaint at Kotwali police station in Midnapore against Proloy Mitra and Chinmay Roy in which he alleged that the duo had forwarded him a cartoon in which Mamata's head was missing with the comment "our chief minister has lost her head".

The police have registered the complaint and are investigating. "We have received the complaint, but the complainant hasn't produced any documentary proof of the cartoon so, before taking any further action, we have to do a thorough investigation," an official said.

This comes days after Jadavpur University Professor Ambikesh Mahapatra was jailed on the charge of forwarding anti-Mamata cartoons via e-mail to about 65 people. The cartoon criticised Mamata for forcing Dinesh Trivedi out of the railway ministry.

Facebook has blocked all cartoons that were circulated against Mamata. However, there was no official communication on the same, according to sources close to the development,

"Facebook had received a complaint from the Central Investigative Department of West Bengal police that some graphics were being circulated against Banerjee and they had asked us to remove the same, which has been done. However, Facebook could not provide the IP address of the people citing privacy laws," said the source.
