Kharar September 15:
The municipal council elections here were marred by a firing incident in ward number 15 at around 6:30 am.
In his complaint to the Kharar police, Congress candidate Ratish Aggarwal’s supporter, Jitender Gupta, principal of Tagore Niketan School, alleged that while he was returning after erecting tents near the polling booth, SAD candidate Jai Bhagwan Singla’s supporter Nirmal Kumar and three unknown people started abusing him.
Gupta alleged that he was beaten up and dragged to SAD office around 25 metres ahead of the spot. Within minutes more people started roughing him up, including Jai Bhagwan Singla. However, Gupta somehow managed to make a call to one of his friends. His friends advocate Natrajan Kaushal, Ajay Kumar and Jawahar Lal rushed to the spot.
A case has been registered at Kharar police station against Singla, Nirmal Kumar, and three unidentified persons under section 307 of IPC for attempt to murder.
