The low cost carrier will launch the commercial operations between Delhi and Pathankot on November 22, 2006. A 48 seater ATR- 42 aircraft has been deployed to serve this route. Tickets priced at Rs 9 (excluding taxes) are also available on the Delhi-Pathankot route.
The new flight was inaugurated by Praful Patel, civil aviation minister and Vinod Khanna, MP. The Airports Authority of India also inaugurated their new terminal building at Pathankot Airport on Tuesday to start the operations. Captain GR Gopinath, MD, Air Deccan said, "Air Deccan is the first airline to bring civil aviation to Pathankot and we are grateful to the Airports Authority of India for opening up Pathankot Airport for flight operations. Pathankot is Air Deccan's 61st airport and the 12th unconnected city to be brought on the Indian aviation map."

He added, "Pathankot is a meeting point of the three northern states of Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir. The city is an important access point for several tourist spots in Himachal and J & K which bestows strategic importance on the city and justifies the need for air connectivity."
