A 27-year-old nurse, Vir Pal Kaur, ended her life by hanging herself from a ceiling fan at her rented accommodation in Sector 24 here today. The police said they found a suicide note from the room of the victim in which she had stated that she was taking the extreme step as her lover had refused to marry her. The police have booked her lover for abetment of suicide.
According to the police, Vir Pal Kaur, a native of Moga, was working as a nurse at a local hospital and was staying in a two-bedroom flat in a society in Sector 24 along with her colleague. After attending her duty yesterday, she came home and asked her roommate to cook food. The roommate, after cooking food, left for her night duty. When she returned in this morning at around 9 am, she found the door of the room locked from inside.
She knocked at the door, but failed to get any response. She informed the security guard of the society, who, along with two other society members, broke open the door and found Vir Pal Kaur hanging from the ceiling fan.
The Chandimandir SHO, Inspector Baljit Singh, said, “We have found a suicide note from the room of Vir Pal Kaur in which she has levelled allegations against a person, who has been booked under Section 306 of the IPC.”
