NSDC To Open 50 India International Skill Centres Across The Country

The National Skills Development Corporation is going to open 50 India International Skill Centres in the country by the end of this year.

On Friday, President Pranab Mukherjee announced the opening of initial phase of 15 centres which are going to provide training to healthcare workers, domestic workers, retail, security, capital goods, auto, construction tourism and hospitality. 6 centres out of the 15 have been opened in Uttar Pradesh, which is the largest beneficiary state.

The main objective of this initiative is to help the youth to seek global mobility or in migrating overseas for jobs. The NSDC would be imparting training under The Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Yojana (PMKVY) and Pravasi Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PKVY). The Ministry of External Affairs shall provide support for Pre-Departure Orientation Training, which includes language and soft skills training modules to the selected youths.

Till now, among the 15 centres opened in the country, six are in Uttar Pradesh, two are in Kerala and one each in Jharkhand, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh/Telangana, West Bengal, Maharashtra, Punjab, and Rajasthan.
