NOW, POOHLA'S SEWADAR ATTACKED IN JAIL
Amritsar August 31:
The spate of crimes in the Amritsar central security jail have refused to stop, putting a serious question mark on the security of its inmates.
Just two days after Nihang chief of Tarna Dal Ajit Singh Poohla was burnt alive in his cell by two fellow inmates, another inmate of the jail thrashed one of his sewadars, also lodged in the jail. SSP Kunwar Vijay Partap Singh informed that one Ranjit Singh, who was lodged under the NDPS Act thrashed Gurdial Singh, lodged in the jail under preventive arrest.
Ranjit attacked Gurdial while standing in the queue for food. He used a crude knife, chiselled out of a spoon, for attacking the victim who sustained injuries on his hands and arms. A case under Section 307 of the IPC has been registered against the accused. Sources informed that Gurdial was deliberately sent to the jail for the ‘sewa' of Poohla since he was one of his trusted allies.
Asked about the increasing incidents of crimes in the jail, Kunwar said, “There is a need to channelize energy of the staff in the right direction which required dedication and hard work”. Meanwhile, both Harchand Singh and Navtej Singh, who had attacked Poohla on August 28 were produced in court, which sent the duo to police remand for five days. The dead body of Poohla arrived at Baba Bakala at around 6 pm, where it was consigned to flames amidst tight security.
It is learnt that activists of Poohla Eviction Committee took over the charge of gurdwara at Poohla village, which was forcibly taken in possession by Poohla. Meanwhile, in Chandigarh, a special panel of PGI doctors conducted the postmortem examination of Poohla's body.
