The High Court today issued notices to the Chief Secretary and others on the alleged violation of rights of the inmates of Nari Sewa Sadan at Mashobra.
It directed the state to file its status report. The division bench comprising Chief Justice Mansoor Ahmad Mir and Justice Tarlok Singh Chauhan passed the order on a letter written by Ajai Srivastava, chairman of the Umang Foundation, to the Chief Justice.
The letter stated that there was a violation of rights of the destitute inmates of Nari Sewa Sadan.
The petitioner urged the court to get an FIR lodged against officials of the Nari Sewa Sadan who allegedly forced the minor tribal girl and other inmates to work as bonded labourers at their residences.
The petitioner also raised the issue of non-compliance of High Court’s order in which the government was directed to grant pension to the destitute women of the sadan. The petitioner claimed that the poor inmates were still deprived of pension, urging the court to initiate contempt proceedings against the defaulters.
The court also issued notices to the Principal Secretary (Social Justice and Empowerment), Principal Secretary (Home), Director, (SC, OBC & Minority), Director (Women & Child Development), Deputy Commissioner, Shimla, directing them to file the status report.
