England batsman Ian Bell feels his team's inconsistent run in the 2011 World Cup could work in their favour when they take on Sri Lanka in the fourth quarterfinal in Colombo Saturday.
England suffered shock losses to Ireland and Bangladesh in the league stage and just scraped through to the next round. Bell admitted that the side has had a rollercoaster ride in the tournament but said it also makes them unpredictable for the opposition.
"I am sure there are a lot of teams that don't really want to play England, because they don't quite know what they're going to get," The Mirror quoted Bell as saying. "On our day we can be the best in the world and on others we are not so good. This is a game where we have to make sure we put together 100 overs of quality cricket." Bell said the team is excited about playing the 1996 champions in their own backyard.
"We are very excited about this draw. As a group, we think Colombo is the one place we quite liked to go. "On the last One-day tour there, we had a bit of success and it is a good place to go and play. When you get to a quarterfinal and come up against a confident side, it is going to be tough but I am quite excited about going to Colombo and very happy with that," he said.
