Post No land given to corporates for SEZs, asserts Hooda

Joining issue with Union Rural Development Minister and his bete noire Birender Singh, former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today refuted allegations that his government transferred land after acquisition to big corporates for developing special economic zones(SEZs).
“The big corporates, which applied for setting up SEZs in the state , bought land directly from farmers and the Congress Government was in no way associated with the land transactions ,” Hooda said here today.
On Birender Singh’s allegations that about 19,000 acres of land acquired from farmers was released to the corporate houses after promulgation of Sections 4 and 6 of the Land Acquisition Act, Hooda asserted that according to the rules the land could be released during the acquisition process. “Even the Khattar Government had relased around 3,800 acresafter the announcement of award under Section 9 of the Land Acquisition Act,” Hooda quipped.
On alleged irregularities in the grant of CLUs during his tenure, Hooda claimed that CLUs were an indicator of development in any state. Hooda said 1,069 CLUs were granted for setting up of industry while 148 CLUs were granted for setting up educational institutions and medical institutes. Similarly, 336 CLUs were given for setting up petrol stations and 114 for retail outlets, he claimed.
“Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar led a high-level delegation to the USA and Canada recently to attract investment. Can foreign or domestic investors set up industry without the grant of CLU by the current government? Hooda asked.
Hooda claimed that it was Congress Government which pioneered a pro-farmer land acquisition policy which was later hailed all over the country. The farmers got meagre land compensation during the INLD-BJP regime, he claimed.
