Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar left this morning for New Delhi from where he would go to China tomorrow to study infrastructure development especially in the field of irrigation, rural development and tourism.
Kumar, with a high-power delegation comprising state Water Resources minister V K Choudhary, Tourism minister S K Pinto and Development Commissioner K C Sah would be on "a goodwill mission" as his tour has been finalised by the External Affairs Ministry, an official spokesman said here.
Speaking to reporters, Kumar said during his seven-day visit to Sandong, Sanghai and Beijing, he would study the infrastructure development especially irrigation, rural development and tourism.
"The thrust will be to attract investments in priority sectors and strengthen the ties with China," the spokesman said.
Official sources said during his stay in China, Kumar would visit power plants, agricultural sites and irrigation systems.
Kumar would also inaugurate a seminar 'Budhhism: Mapping Asia's History and Culture' in Beijing on June 18 and attend a programme to be hosted in his honour in Shanghai by people of Indian-origin.
China, the sources said, has been impressed by the rapid economic development of Bihar and has shown keen interest in making investments in the state.
