New city bus system gets go-ahead in Delhi

Janakpuri firm set to drive on first cluster in 6 months It may take another six months at least but Blueline buses, synonymous with fatal road accidents and a decrepit public transport service, will now be taken off roads for sure.

Nearly two years after the government decided to remove Blueline buses, the Delhi Cabinet on Monday finally cleared the decks for replacing Blueline buses with low floor and semi-low floor buses run by corporate units. According to Transport minister Arvinder Singh Lovely, the first lot of buses, to be run by a Janakpuri-based firm called Starbus Limited, will be operational within the next six months.
