Jalandhar December 6:

Nav Inqlab Yatra led by District Youth Congress (rural) president Vikramjit Singh Chaudhary was given rousing reception at Kartarpur by thousands of Youth Congress activists.

The other leaders, Vikas Upadhayay, general secretary of the Indian Youth Congress, who is also incharge for the Party affairs in the state and Punjab Youth Congress (PYC) president Ravneet Singh Bittu, carrying the Yatra were received at Dyalpur village on Amritsar-Jalandhar national high way. They were shouting slogans of Jawani Bachao, Kisani Bachao all along the Yatra.

Both the leaders addressed a public rally before proceeding to Saraikhas village in Kartarpur for its final halt for the day. The Yatra was to highlight the programmes of the UPA government which is the real force behind the development of Punjab. Programmes like Indira Awas Yojana (IAY) and MGNREGA have been successfully implemented and facilitated the common unskilled people a comfortable living in the state.

The Youth Congress through the Yatra aims to spread awareness of the Central government schemes among the people at the grassroots. Besides, the leaders were sensitising the youth against drug abuse and other social evils. The Yatra has given impetus to the youth cadre from where onwards the District Youth Congress (rural) under the able leadership of Mr Chaudhary will cover all the villages of the district and boost the common Congress workers to work jointly as the general elections hardly a year away. The Yatra will proceed to Jalandhar city on December 6 and it will re-enter Jalandhar through Phillaur on December 11.
