MURDER SUSPECT ESCAPES FROM COURT

A man who had been arrested on murder charges escaped from custody in typical 'Bollywood style' when he was produced in a local court and three policemen accompanying him were suspended for negligence in discharging their duty.
As the cops unlocked the suspect's handcuffs before taking him into the courtroom, he pushed them aside, running fast to scale the court premises wall and managed to escape along with his accomplice who had been waiting for him on a motorcycle. The incident took place in full public view.
Gurdaspur DSP (D) Jasdeep Singh said Satnam Singh alias Satta, a resident of Behrampur, who was in judicial custody and brought to the court of additional sessions judge Harpreet Kaur at about noon for his trial, succeeded in dodging three cops and fled with his accomplice who was waiting for him across the court wall in a preplanned manner.
He said Gulzar Singh and two other constables who were accompanying the murder suspect were suspended and a case registered against them under sections 222, 223 & 224 of the IPC for their negligence.
According to the police, Satnam was booked for killing a man, Ajit Singh, following a complaint filed by a Shamsherpur resident, Kulwant Singh, who accused Satnam of murdering his brother with whom he was embroiled in a land dispute. Satnam was arrested and placed under judicial custody after the local police booked him u/s 302, 307, 326, 324, 148 & 149 of the IPC.
