Additional Sessions Judge Amit Kumar Sharma today framed charges under Section 302 of the IPC against Rohit, a resident of Uttrakhand, for the murder of his wife in July this year.
However, his brother and co-accused in the case Kamlesh, an ITBP employee, was granted bail and would now face trial for destroying the evidence. It was on July 19 that Rohit and Kamlesh were caught by residents of nearby Asarewali village when they were on their way to dump the body of Aarti on a motorcycle. Later, the post-mortem report confirmed that the deceased had suffered a head injury before her death and she was killed by manual strangulation.
On the complaint of Aasarewali village sarpanch Mustakh Ali, a case was registered against the duo. The investigation had revealed that Aarti and Rohit were residents of Naini village near Pithoragarh in Uttarakhand. Both had left their home in June and married against the consent of their parents. Rohit had told the police that he was unemployed and had no money for treatment of his wife, who was suffering from severe jaundice.
