Morni student dies of suspected dengue

A Class IX student from a village in Morni, a suspected patient of dengue, died at the PGI, today. The deceased has been identified as Suman, a resident of Sehat village.
Earlier, Suman was treated at Morni and the Panchkula Civil Hospital for dengue symptoms. On September 18, her platelet count started dipping following which she was referred to the PGI.
Doctors at the PGI told Suman’s relatives that her lungs had been damaged.
Meanwhile, in Panchkula, three new dengue cases have been reported during the past 24 hours. With this, the total number of dengue patients in the district has reached 21.
4 new dengue cases reported from city
Chandigarh: Four new cases of dengue were confirmed on Tuesday, taking the total number of patients affected with it in the city to 140. The new cases were reported from Dariya, Mani Majra and Sector 32.
The nodal officer for dengue, Dr Anil Garg, said two cases were reported from Dariya village on the outskirts of the city.
On Tuesday, fogging was done in Sectors 37 and 38 from where a majority of the dengue cases have been reported. The fogging operation was also carried out in Sector 32, the UT Guest House and at the two Raj Bhawans.
Dr Garg said the Administration was planning to hold a meeting of councillors tomorrow to discuss how the public could be roped in to spread awareness on dengue.
