Modi visits Pathankot, to undertake aerial survey of border areas

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Pathankot to take stock of the situation at the airbase. Mr. Modi is in Pathankot exactly a week after a terrorist attack at the site, as formal sanitisation operations ended there on Friday.

The attack came after the Prime Minister's surprise Christmas visit to Lahore to meet Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, a gesture that was to be followed by the Foreign Secretary-level talks between India and Pakistan around January 15.

12:08 p.m.: During his visit, Mr. Modi is also likely to undertake an aerial survey of the Indo-Pak border areas, official sources say.
