The BJP today dismissed reports that AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi, who was fielding candidates in Bihar’s Seemanchal, had met Prime Minister Narendra Modi terming them an “absolute fabrication and pernicious lie”.
Party spokesperson MJ Akbar, who called the reports a part of the conspiracy to further a political agenda, promised legal action (defamation case) against those propagating “the lie”.
The decision by the Hyderabad-based Muslim leader with virtually no political-base in Bihar to field candidates in the upcoming high-stake election is being viewed with much interest.
Some leaders of the grand alliance of JD-U-RJD-Congress have alleged Owaisi was doing so — seeking to divide Muslims who constitute 17 per cent of the population in Bihar — to help BJP. Demanding to know the agenda of the reported meeting between the Prime Minister and Owaisi, the JD-U today accused the BJP of tasking Owaisi with damaging the prospects of the “grand alliance” in the upcoming Assembly elections.
