Man stabbed to death, one held

A Youth was stabbed to death and another was seriously injured after they were attacked by two men from the neighbourhood in the Peeru Banda colony in Salem Tabri on Tuesday night. The police have arrested one accused Sonu while his brother Monu is still at large.
The deceased Deepak Kumar (23), a resident of Street Number two in the Peeru Banda colony, was attacked with icepicks. Meanwhile, injured Ravi has been admitted to the Bhagwan Ram Charitable Hospital where his condition is stated to be stable.
According to Salem Tabri SHO Waryam Singh, a heated argument broke out between Deepak and Ravi on one side and the accused on the other. “Deepak , along with his cousin Ajay and Ravi, was going to give meals to his grandparents who live in the same colony. Sonu and Monu, who were in an inebriated state, made some nasty remarks at them. This resulted into a scuffle between both groups. After intervention by their families, Sonu and Monu pretended to have patched up and left the spot,” the SHO added.
Waryam Singh said that when Deepak and Ajay were coming back after feeding their grandparents, the accused who were waiting for them, attacked Deepak with icepicks. “The duo repeatedly stabbed Deepak. When Ravi tried to save Deepak, he was also attacked,” said the SHO. While the assailants fled from the spot, the victims were rushed to the hospital where Deepak died. The police said that they were searching for the other accused.
