An eight-year-old boy, Akash, was kidnapped and later allegedly killed by his father's friend in Rajendranagar on Sunday evening.

Akash's father Raju, an auto driver and resident of Kundanwadi in Tapachabutra, gave his auto on rent four months ago to his friend Satish also from the same colony.

According to police, Raju took back his auto from Satish after a dispute over payment. Satish reportedly threatened Raju of revenge.

Recently Raju abused Satish in front of neighbours for non-payment of Rs 300 and Satish reportedly warned Raju that he would have to bear the consequences for the insult.

On Sunday at around 3.30 pm, Akash was playing near his house. Satish approached him and took him to a remote location in Hyderguda, Rajendranagar.

"As the boy escaped from his clutches and started running away, Satish smashed his head with a boulder and killed him," Tapachabutra inspector of police G Narasaiah said.

After searching for Akash till night, Raju lodged a complaint with the Tapachabutra police station saying that his son was missing and police registered a case on Sunday night. Based on information from local people, police apprehended Satish from his house at Darji Galli in Tapachabutra.

After intense questioning, he spilled the beans. "Satish led us to a spot in Hyderguda where the body was lying in a pool of blood," Narasiah said.Police altered the case to murder and Satish would be produced in court
