Post Man jumps from fourth floor of GMSH, booked

A man was booked for attempt to suicide after he jumped from the fourth floor of Government Multi-Specialty Hospital (GMSH), Sector 16.
According to the police, the man has been identified as Vijay, who is around 30 years of age. He suffered fractures in an arm and a leg.
The police were informed about the incident and the man was admitted to the hospital.
Sources said around 6.15 am, a patient, identified as Shashi, a resident of Sector 44, noticed that her mobile phone had been stolen. Her son immediately called on the mobile phone, which started ringing and at the same time Vijay jumped from the fourth floor of the building.
Police officials said the patient’s son alleged that Vijay stole the mobile phone and when he was about to get caught, he jumped from the hospital building.
Inspector Uday Pal, SHO of the Sector 17 police station, said the mobile phone had not been recovered from Vijay. “We are looking into the complaint of the mobile theft,” he said.
The man has been booked under Section 309 (attempt to commit suicide) of the IPC.
The police are in the process of verifying the antecedents of the man.
