Man fakes own kidnapping, arrested

Police on Tuesday night picked up a labour contractor from a lodge in Dilsukhnagar for allegedly faking his abduction in order to escape paying Rs five lakh to a creditor.

B Yadaiah, a native of Panthangi village of Choutuppal mandal in Nalgonda district, used to supply workers on contract basis, Vanasthalipuram inspector B Ravindar Reddy said. Based on a complaint lodged by his family on November 15, a missing case was filed at the Vanasthalipuram police station.

Yadaiah had taken a loan of Rs five lakh from Venugopal Rao in May, but failed to repay it. "We launched a search and finally found him in the company of a sex worker at a lodge in Dilsukhnagar on Tuesday night," the inspector added.

During interrogation, Yadaiah confessed that he had staged the abduction and asked him family members to lodge a complaint. A case was registered against Yadaiah under Section 182 (false information, with intent to cause public servant to use his lawful power to the injury of another person) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
