Kathmandu: In a breakthrough, Nepal's Indian-origin Madhesis, protesting division of their ancestral homeland in the new Constitution, on Monday agreed to hold talks with the government from Tuesday to find a political solution to the unrest that has claimed over 40 lives. PTI

Seoul: North Korea repatriated a South Korean college student who holds a US green card on Monday, six months after capturing him crossing into the country from China, South Korea's Unification Ministry said. The release of Joo Won-moon, who had been a student at New York University, came days before the North celebrates the 70th anniversary of the ruling Workers' Party on Saturday. Reuters

Typhoon Mujigae kills seven in China
Beijing: Seven persons were killed and 223 others injured in China's southern Guangdong Province as typhoon Mujigae, the 22nd typhoon of the year, left behind a trail of death and devastation caused by heavy wind and rains. The deaths and injuries were a result of tornadoes induced by the typhoon. PTI

Wreckage of missing Indonesian plane found
Makassar: Indonesian rescuers on Monday said they have found the wreckage of a small plane carrying 10 persons that went missing on a domestic flight three days ago. The DHC-5 Twin Otter plane lost contact with air traffic controllers 11 minutes after taking off in good weather on Friday from Masamba in South Sulawesi province. The wreckage was found in a forest in a mountainous area of Luwu District. AP

Toddler's head ‘reattached’ to neck after car crash
Melbourne: Doctors in Australia were able to successfully reattach a 16-month-old boy's head to his neck after it was pulled apart in an internal decapitation during a car accident. Jackson Taylor was travelling with his mother and sister when their car crashed head on with another vehicle on September 15. The toddler was airlifted to a hospital in Brisbane where top medics were able to reattach the boy's vertebrae using wire and a piece of his rib during a six-hour operation, 'Daily Express' reported. Swedish crime writer Mankell dies at 67
Stockholm: Best-selling Swedish crime writer Henning Mankell, whose detective character Kurt Wallander became a global phenomenon, has died at 67 after battling cancer, his publisher said on Monday. Mankell, who first revealed he had cancer in January last year, "died in his sleep early this morning" in Sweden's Gothenburg, his publisher said. AFP

Sneezing monkey among 200 new species found
Thimpu: A snub-nosed monkey that sneezes when it rains, a walking fish and a jewel-like snake are among more than 200 species discovered in the fragile eastern Himalayas, said a report by the World Wildlife Fund.
