New Delhi: When it comes to work place, Indians suffer the most peeves ranging from irritating mobile phone ringtones to loud talkers, says a website survey.

India was the "most peeved country" among the 16 nations surveyed, according to professional networking site.

In India, 74 percent of the respondents said they were annoyed by loud or irritating mobile phone ringtones.

According to the findings released Wednesday, other major irritants at work place for Indian professionals include people who were not taking ownership for their actions, loud talkers or people who take calls on speakerphone and constant complainers.

More than 400 professionals, including hiring managers, participated in the survey in India. All the participants were the users of the website.

"Regardless of nationality or gender, however, the number one pet peeve of all professionals (selected by 78 percent of the more than 17,000 surveyed globally) is people not taking ownership for their actions," the website said.

About 68 percent of Indian women were bothered by "clothing that's too revealing for the workplace," while only 48 percent of Indian men felt that was a problem.

Globally, the survey found that Swedish professionals were the most tolerant of what others wear in the workplace.

Further, hiring managers in India were much more peeved than non-hiring managers, when it comes to people turning up late for meetings.

"Many a time, professionals do not realise that their behaviour is a peeve for others. This unknowingly impacts professional relationships and also poses a challenge to employee productivity and success," Country Manager of the website Hari V Krishnan said.

"Etiquette in the workplace is critical to building your professional profile and also boosts your performance and career," he noted.

The survey found that Americans get more irritated than other nationals by co-workers taking others' food from the office refrigerator.

"Brazilians are the most annoyed of any national group by excessive gossiping... Germans are annoyed by dirty common areas (the community microwave or refrigerator) more than the rest of the world," the report said.

Other countries surveyed include the US, Italy, Japan, Brazil, Germany and the UK.
