LOCAL BUS SERVICE LAUNCHED IN JALANDHAR

Punjab Chief Minister Prakash Singh Badal said launched a low floor ultramodern bus service here.While launching the bus service, Mr. Badal boarded the first bus from local BMC Chowk up to Namdev Chowk.
The bus was filled with political leaders including National Secretary of BJP Balbir Punj, Punjab Cabinet Minister Manoranjan Kalia and State BJP chief Rajinder Bhandari. Local councillors and MLAs missed the bus as they boycotted the launch in protest against omission of SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal from the advertisements of the service by the Municipal Corporation of Jalandhar.
Mr. Badal later released a special grant of Rs.101 crore for various developmental projects in the district in a public function organised at local Red Cross Bhawan which was also not attended by local Akali MLAs barring one from Jalandhar Cantonment. The Punjab Institute of Medical Sciences, the building of which has already been constructed, would be operational soon, the Chief Minister said.
