Kolkata: Hitting out at union Home Minister P. Chidambaram for terming West Bengal as the worst governed state, the ruling Left Front on Monday said the minister was "uttering lies" as part of the poll campaign.

Left Front chairman Biman Bose took a dig at Chidambaram for criticising the state's law and order situation.

"Chidambaram stays in New Delhi. I would like to ask him: is the law and order condition of Bengal worse than Delhi? I want to ask him: is West Bengal only having debt?"

"What about other states like Maharashtra? Are other states having pomp and grandeur and our state is only having debt? It is an election oriented speech," the Left Front leader said in Kolkata.
