New Delhi: The Kolkata Knight Riders have signed Mark Boucher to replace the injured Brad Haddin for the rest of the Indian Premier League.

Haddin joined the Knight Riders immediately after Australia's tour of Bangladesh but had to fly back home after a scan revealed a finger fracture.

Venky Mysore, the CEO of the Knight Riders, said: "We are very disappointed that Brad [Haddin] will be leaving the squad and will not take further part.

"In a short period, Brad had made his presence felt both on and off the field."

However, he was upbeat about having Boucher join the team.

Track record

"We are fortunate to have someone like Mark Boucher as Brad's replacement," he said. "Mark comes with a lot of experience and a terrific track record in all forms of the game."

Boucher represented the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the last three seasons of the IPL.

He did not feature in South Africa's squad for the 2011 World Cup.
