Jigisha’s murderer used to pose as a cop, extort money

Ravi Kapoor, who abducted and killed 28-year-old Jigisha Ghosh on March 18, 2009, has 13 cases of extortion, robbery, abduction and attempt to murder registered against him.
Ghosh was abducted from near her home in Vasant Vihar area of South Delhi after she was dropped by her office cab.
Jigisha’s body was recovered near Surajkund in Haryana three days later. Kapoor, along with his associate Amit Shukla, was given death sentence on Monday. A third convict, Baljeet Malik, was sentenced to life in prison by a Delhi court on Monday.

A master conman, Ravi, used to pose as a Delhi Police personnel and extort money from vendors, shopkeepers and even labourers. He got a police uniform stitched and used to wear and roam around the area. Kapoor also had a fake police ID and wireless sets that were recovered after the police raided his residence. Kapoor was also convicted for the offense of using firearms under the Arms Act.
According to the police, Kapoor also posed as a senior editor of a daily and got photographs clicked with senior police officers. He used to flash those photos to convince people that he has a strong network of contacts and extort money.
