Mumbai: Renowned ghazal singer Jagjit Singh, who underwent an emergency surgery for brain haemorrhage at the Lilavati Hospital here on Friday evening, continues to be in "critical condition", doctors attending on him said Saturday.
Seventy-year-old Singh had a brain haemorrhage on Friday morning.
Dr Ajit Menon, a cardiologist at Lilavati Hospital, said yesterday afternoon that Singh is in the hospital's intensive care unit.
A high blood pressure patient for a long time, Singh complained of discomfort while resting at his residence. "He was rushed to the hospital immediately afterwards," Singh's close associate Virendra Shankar said.
Singh was scheduled to perform with famous Pakistani ghazal singer Gulam Ali at Shanmukhananda Hall at Matunga in north-central Mumbai.
