Indian team undergoes practice sans Dhoni, Sehwag

The Indian cricket team underwent a two-hour long practice session without captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Virender Sehwag at the IIT Chemplast grounds here.

Barring Dhoni and Sehwag, the rest of the players turned up for practice held under the watchful eyes of coach Gary Kirsten and mental conditioning coach Paddy Upton ahead of their last World Cup league match against the West Indies on Sunday.

This was their first serious net session after the optional practice yesterday. Sachin Tendulkar was the cynosure of the spectators as he faced some throw downs from Kirsten with the crowd cheering his every shot. Harbhajan Singh bowled a few overs before switching to batting practice.

Local lad Ravichandran Ashwin and Suresh Raina were the first to take the nets followed by speedster S Sreesanth and Munaf Patel. Yusuf Pathan faced some deliveries from Piyush Chawla.
