New Delhi: Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh yesterday asserted that he had no plans to quit in the wake of criticism over corruption scandals faced by his government.

"I have never felt like quitting. I will stay the course… I have a job to do. We have a lot of unfinished business to accomplish," Singh said. He was interacting with senior editors of television channels at a press conference telecast live from his official residence.

The 78-year-old Singh attempted to come clean after being accused by the opposition of letting the exchequer be plundered.

Singh said he hoped to break the deadlock in parliament over the opposition's demand for a joint parliamentary committee (JPC) probe into the tele-com scandal. "I am not afraid to appear before any committee. It is an entirely wrong impression that I did not want to appear before the JPC," he said.
