Putting onus on Pakistan to take some concrete steps to normalise relations, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh today said India had always supported peaceful and cordial relations with neighbouring countries without compromising with its dignity and honour. He stressed that lasting peace was imperative for growth and development of the subcontinent.
“We believe in the slogan of ‘Vasudev Kutambhkam’ (the whole world is a family), to propagate the message
of peace and friendship among all nations,” Rajnath said while addressing ITBP personnel after inaugurating the force’s new premises in the border area.
Invoking slogan of former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee that “hum dost badal saktay hain padosi nahi” (we can change friends but
not neighbours), Rajnath recalled that the previous NDA regime and the present Central government had taken various steps to normalise relations with the neighbouring countries. “We want better relations with China and Pakistan.”
