Days after an alleged fraud in NoCs issued by the Rewari Municipal Council (RMC) to several plots in unauthorised colonies, a scam of charging a development fee from unauthorised colonies by the Haryana Urban Development Authorities (HUDA) has surfaced in Rewari.
District BJP chief Satish Khola has filed a complaint against HUDA at CM Window seeking the registration of a police case against guilty HUDA officials. The authorities have started probing the matter.
“HUDA charged crores of rupees as a development fee between January 2013 and October 2014 in the name of issuing NoCs to several plots of such unauthorised colonies which also don’t come under its jurisdiction,” said Khola.
The BJP leader maintained that he had enclosed receipts of development fees charged by HUDA during the period with the complaint . HUDA had not so far spent a single penny from the money charged from the plot holders, Khola added.
“How can HUDA charge a development fee from unauthorised colonies that fall within the Municipal Council limits? I have urged the district authorities to book the erring HUDA officials,” said Khola.
Notably, the police booked three days ago RMC officials for issuing NoCs to several plots in unauthorised colonies. The police have also formed a special investigation team (SIT) to probe the matter.
Vijay Pal, Executive Officer (EO), said though the matter was not in his knowledge, HUDA could neither charge any development fee nor issue NoCs to plots in the localities which fell under the jurisdiction of the Municipal Council.
Vijay Rathi, HUDA’s Estate Officer (EO) in Rewari, could not be contacted for his comments despite repeated attempts. He did not reply to even text massages sent on his cellphone.
