'HP, PUNJAB GOVTS FAILED TO PROTECT NAINA DEVI DEVOTEES'

Member of Parliament from Patiala Preneet Kaur came down heavily on Himachal Pradesh and Punjab Governments for not providing proper arrangements for the devotees of Naina Devi.
She said that the due to lack of security arrangements at Mandir was not proper resulting the killing of over 150 people in stampede on Sunday. She said that Punjab Government has made any arrangement for tackling any crises. Preneet Kaur visited village Banwari near Rajpura for expressing condolences to the relatives of the persons who have died in stampede on Sunday in Naina Devi.
She said that Punjab and HP Governments has ridiculed to the families of devotees by announcing mere Rs one lakh as compensation, She however demanded that Rs five lakh should be given to the grieved families. She however said that she along with the Congress MPs of HP will raised this matter in the coming monsoon session and will demand a fool proof security system to prevent any tragedy like this in future.
She said a letter has already written by her to the Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and HP's Chief Minister PK Dhumal demanding more compensation for the grieved families. She said that she also wrote a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to intervene in it and find out permanent solution for the security of devotees.
