hitman is a PC and console third-person-shooter. The first installment must have launched on practically all consoles out there at the time, including the Xbox, Xbox 360, Gamecube, and Playstation 2. It revolves around a man known as Agent 47 (sometimes just 47, it's simpler), an assassin for hire, whose skills place him in high demand for jobs. The games contain a considerable amount of violence and are rated Mature (17+) by the ESRB. Now, a game like this couldn't have missed the screen now, could it? Of course not, thus talk about a Hitman Movie was confirmed.

Filming commenced on March 27 and it's currently being carried on around the Bulgarian capital of Sofia. The crew will shoot there for 12 weeks before moving on to locations in South Africa, St. Petersburg and London, other important territories in which the game series takes place. The cast goes something like this:

Timothy Olyphant - Deadwood, Die Hard 4.0 - stars as the world’s deadliest assassin;
Dougray Scott - Mission: Impossible II, Desperate Housewives – he is the antagonist;
Olga Kurylenko from Paris je t’aime and Robert Knepper from Prison Break, Ulrich Thomsen from Festen and Michael Offei from Casino Royale...What?! No not the leading guy so keep your temper, but they've all joined the cast of the video game adaptation.

The story, on the other hand, centers on an international assassin known only as Agent 47 (Olyphant) who works for a mysterious organization AKA the Agency. From this point on, everything will be just like the game series which, by the way, sold in excess of 6 million units worldwide. The most recent installment of Hitman: Blood Money sold 1.4 million units worldwide so far and it made No.1 in all key territories.

The movie is being directed by Xavier Gens, who you may know from a screenplay by Skip Woods (Swordfish). The producers are Luc Besson, Pierre-Ange Le Pogam, Adrian Askarieh and Charles Gordon, with Daniel Alter as a co-producer. Distribution for France will be handled by EuropaCorp Distribution and as for the rest of the world, Twentieth Century Fox will carry out the work.
